What do they want?
I haven’t seen my sketchbook in weeks. The last time I was drawing in it, my character stepped out of the margin lines and we began fighting and wrestling over the sketchbook. He fought so wild and crazy over the book like his life depended on it, I eventually just let it go because to me I was just a sketchbook.
Since then, I haven’t had control. They have started drawing whatever they want and creating their own character. They still write themselves into theme park events, commercials, and public spaces. It's been really embarrassing because I have no control over what they do or how they portray the brand, but it gets alot of free publicity and honestly I think they’re doing it better than I ever could.
It amazes me because when they're sighted they go viral on Twitter and Tiktok and they've started doing this cool thing where they graffiti animations onto subway walls so when the train goes by at fast speeds the animation works, It's still illegal but I was impressed. But they also do some not so cool stuff, one clip I recently saw was a group of VaHaas characters destroying the statue of a famous sponge before yelling at people that “Your nostalgia isn’t safe anymore.”
It's taken the media by storm, news outlets and these companies are searching for the suspects but no one knows who’s behind it, but I do. The weird part is… part of me is proud because my characters are real and that's something out of my imagination and dreams and now they're actually real. But it's also scary because I don’t know what they want or why they're doing this stuff.
