Why did we start this?
When you were younger did you ever catch yourself while watching a cartoon thinking “I wish he would just do this” or “he should've done that insead.” At VaHaas, we’ve built our entire brand around bringing that same sense of excitement back only this time, we’re adding an edgy spin to what you remember. VaHaas is a home for reimagined characters that reflect childhood icons while focusing on bolder storylines, more mature humor, and a style that the original writers or creators wouldn't give you.
It all started when I noticed I was constantly sketching variations of my original character “VaHaas” and putting his face on popular childhood cartoon icons. I’d tweak their features, distort their proportions, and make them look like my character. By reimagining and taking inspiration from these cartoon icons, I very quickly had an entire cast of VaHaas characters, each with a backstory and style that has the potential to grow into something bigger than just a design. With a feeling of being able to do this with anything, I began to design everything from action figures to T-shirts and even started writing scripts for short animated films to give these characters i've created a story.
Our goal is to design characters within the “VaHaas” style that balances nostalgia and originality. We want our consumers to recognize our characters, but still have that feeling as if they already knew them, our characters should feel familiar. Our goal isn't to simply replicate or parody a character but twist them and transform their design into a VaHaas original. I want viewers to be reminded of the cartoon icons and think “I remember something like this… but not quite.” It’s the blend of familiarness and the new design that keeps fans guessing and engaged, because what they remember has now changed.
Through upcoming posts, you’ll get a deeper look and behind the scenes of ideas and creative methods that make VaHaas different. We’ll talk about what it takes to create an action figure, character designs, and how everything fits into one creative space.
